In my opinion the best art (like the best lyrics to the best songs) are moments snatched right out of everyday life. They don't have to be obviously fantastic...in fact, their unassuming nature makes them more amazing. In these glimpses into normal activity we find a universal connection that resonates.

Here Selena and Finn are trying their hand at commerce with some lemons, a military cooler, a poster board sign, and some youthful enthusiasm.

Nathan has been making art for 30+ years, but more importantly he making his way through life as an artist. His unique perspective, creative talents, and excitement for not only telling his story, but helping others to tell theirs is what. makes him interesting. While his drawings of people, places, and objects that he finds interesting are recognizable, the stories he has to tell go well beyond that.

This site is a place where you can walk into Nathan's studio and walk amonst the ideas that are scrawled across his mind.

Be ready to see things differently, to go on long runs into the mountains, ride vintage trail bikes amongst saguaros, cruise in old trucks, and relish the unique stories of old things.

I love the unapologetic authenticity of a quick charcoal portrait that is like a shared glance between two people. It isn't too over thought or analytical. It's pure.

Tent the carport and take the vintage truck apart. Prep and paint and make this old truck something new.

The Honda CB500T Project

Our first
retro moto
creation

The boys and I headed to the west side of Phoenix, past the 51 and 17 to pick up a project with a little cash in pocket. Kyle is always the heavy dropping insanely low (sometimes offensively so) offers. I play the sensible one attempting to help the offended seller back from anger's edge to a 'reasonable' number. We are hardcore believers in making your money on the purchase, not the sell.

With the CB500T, we got to an easy number that made. the kid who wanted cash in pocket happy enough and made us feel like we had nothing to lose. Then, we let Finn be the money man. It's perfect!

While we're loading, we were already feeling like we had won.

ABOUT ME

Creativity takes lots of different forms. So no matter if it is capturing an amazing portrait or building an old truck...it's as much about how you move through life as anything!

desert riders

IMG_0831 2.JPG

Nine years ago we became desert dwellers. Where the most beautiful plants beyond the edge of civization are at once gorgeous and protected with thorns and needles. A place where lizards and snakes and scorpions move nearly invisibly to the secluded shade of rock fragments.

One of the absolute best ways to explore it is to hit the trails and rough fire roads that slice through two hundred year old saguaro cactus and dive into canyons where tarantulas, coyotes, and javelinas settle patiently in the heat.

Our 30 year old Honda XRs thump through the diverse terrain under an enormous sky enveloped in the dust of the miles. We devour desert vistas unaccessible to the faint of heart. We climb rocky hills and ride deeper in sandy washes where staying vertical isn't always easy. Ravens unimpressed by the preditors lurking in the scrub squawk in defiance. We take our helmets off and together acknowledge a truth that is unbelievably larger than we could have imagined before we ever raced across the desert.
